So, I am a few chapters short of my goal, but I am thrilled that I have revised 17 chapters and converted those poor souls from 3rd person to 1st person. From the looks of it so far, it just might be working. By the end of the week, I hope to have it ready for my agent to take a peek.
How have the rest of you finished this month of madness?
Now it's time to set some goals for May. Are you ready to keep it going?
Big THANKS to Deb for volunteering to host in May. Everyone check in on her BLOG next week.
And we have more THANKS to Kim who will be hosting in June and Angelina who will be hosting in July.
WIPSTERS ROCK!!
Aw, so sorry you're sick! Hope you feel better soon and thanks for being a trooper and hosting. No idea who is up for May. Perhaps Angelina has it written down.
ReplyDeleteMy progress has been good. I accomplished all of my goals, thanks to a little writing weekend to end the month.
Hurray for good progress! Way to go, Denise! You have had a very busy spring!
DeleteNo fun being sick but you got a lot done this month! YAY!
ReplyDeleteThanks for all your encouragement last month while I waited for the plot bunny to visit. Thanks to an idea my hubby had, I have successfully lured the bunny to my WIP and I am now the proud owner of a PLOT!
My "memoir" will end up being two books. The plotless version for my family to read is almost done now and the one with a plot will be my May goal. It will mean a ton of rewriting as I will be deleting more than half of it! I hate deleting scenes but keeping the family version means it's not gone for good. I can handle that.
YAY! I'm so excited for you, Carolyn! Just goes to show that you can write through it...eventually! Way to go!
DeleteSorry to hear you're sick, Mary Ann. I hope you feel better soon! Thanks for hosting this month, and congrats on getting so much done toward your goal. Changing POV is a huge job, but when it's right, it is SO worth it. So yay for that!
ReplyDeleteI accomplished my first goal early in the month. My second (bigger) goal I didn't do so well on, for a few reasons. But *some* progress is better than *no* progress, right? ;) Onward!
Any progress is forward motion, Shari. Way to go on the first goal and keep plugging away at that second goal. You'll get there!
DeleteOh no! Hope you get to feeling better soon!! You were a fabulous host this month. :) Hoping all goes well this week with your revisions. Sending you good vibes!
ReplyDeleteAll in all, April has been a good month. I got both of my goals done. Phew! Short story done, and a couple more read-throughs and I'll submit on Wed. Picture book ms, finally revised to the point where I LOVE it again. Hope to get them to my agent by tomorrow afternoon.
Ready for May's goals and challenges! Wip on, folks!
Wow! You have had a busy month! Way to hang in there, Candi!
DeleteSickness sucks! Hope you get to feeling better soon. Congrats on the WIPROGRESS. As far as I know, no one stepped up to the WIPMADNESS hosting plate for May. I can do it if no one volunteers. Anyone?
ReplyDelete2013 is the official year for change, adjustment, and flexibility for me. I did get a few chapters of revision done in April, but I have not yet settled into a good writing routine yet. I am so distracted. Mostly by online shopping. I got rid of 20 years of "our stuff" and am slowly transforming this awesome old apartment into "Angelina's space". Plus getting used to the new job, new schedule. Plus it's so darned beautiful outside and I'm surrounded by tons of stuff to do! Quite different from the isolated little ski cabin in the woods I resided in for the past 8 years. But I AM A WRITER AND I WILL GET BACK INTO A GOOD ROUTINE. I WILL. I WILL. I WILL!
Yes...you WILL!
DeleteYes, yes you will! And we are behind you all the way! Change is hard especially when you are trying to write. But you Can do it!
DeleteThanks for hosting this month, Mary Ann!
ReplyDeleteI survived! LOL
Here's what I did for April:
1) Camp NaNoWriMo April, 2013 - Current word count, as of yesterday: = 69,715 (word count target met on 04/15)
2) Savvy Authors April Boot Camp - Current word count, as of yesterday = 67,895 (word count target met on 04/15)
3) Blogging A to Z Challenge - A through Y posted. Tomorrow, we wrap with Z.
4) Round of Words in 80 Days - Four Mid-Week Check-Ins and Four Sunday Check-Ins.
GOALS FOR MAY:
1) My stories are far from over so I'd like to continue chugging along through May. Among my scheduled workshops, I have one on Worldbuilding and another on Showing and Telling that will prove useful for my twisted fairytale mashup (The Camp NaNo novel).
2) Round of Words in 80 Days - I have 50 more days to go. I’m glad that I’ll have check-ins twice a week to keep me on track.
3) 100 Pages in 7 Days Challenge - 25,000 words in a week? Pfft. Hi, May. Have you met April? Challenge accepted and continued.
4) Work on the blog. Blog at least twice a week. Also, I’ll be looking into web hosting and switching to wordpress.org down the road. I'd like to expand the blog to more than just chronicling my writing progress. I might add other posts about arts and entertainment.
5) Read. READ MANY BOOKS. My TBR pile is ridiculous. Also, I’m reviewing some books through goodreads and might add a review series on the blog.
I think that should tide me over until June, yeah?
Hope everyone had a productive April.
Onward, write!
Tonette
Tonette, I don't know how you do it. Please tell me you have an army of dust bunnies gathering and ready to launch the assault so I feel a little less guilty about the lapine revolution in my own house. I have accomplished nowhere near what you have. Way to go!!
DeleteI decided to live in a burrow with real bunnies so I wouldn't have to think about the state my humble abode is in. I suppose it also helps that I stay at my brother's when taking care of the Keysmashing Tots, so my place is left relatively undisturbed. Until, of course, when the Tots come visit and the Elder sees my glorious mindmapping mirrors. Sadly, I've had to erase them before his arrival so he doesn't get the idea that it's cool to write on just any surface.
DeleteOkay, now that you mention it, I think I'm sorta nutty at this point, but I call it Delicious Masochism on the Road to Awesometown where I'll find the League of Extraordinary Publications. Oh, to dream. It shall be glorious!
Happy May, Mary Ann, and to everyone else, too, see you at Monday's Check-in!
#wipmadness with love,
Tonette
Hey and hope you a feeling a little better today. It has been a funny week of getting back from a conference finishing up one job whilst starting another and trying to get in some freelance writing possibles. BUT-stumbled through it all and gearing up for May:
ReplyDelete-a reading challenge on my blog
-getting a daily writing routine in as I now
have a few hours of time between shifts at the new job.
Thanks for hosting us this month!
Thanks, Deb! And thanks for volunteering to host a month. I've got you down for May. And Hurray for a routine! We'll be right there with you!
DeleteBummer. I had strep when I was in college. I was so sick I lost 20 pounds. Hope you get better soon!
ReplyDeleteIt's been really hard to get any writing in this week. I scheduled some time in between scoring 4th grade essays and review responsibilities but of course life just gets in the way. Yesterday got a franic call that I HAD to do all this paperwork and meet with someone. Of course she didn't get my email 2 wks ago to reschedule a meeting. Hate that. Husband said for me to take a chill pill and just do go to the meeting. I just hate when others want us to drop everything. Sigh. Remind me to not answer the phone again.
Next week will be better as son will be going to his satellite school and believe it or not this is where I get most of my writing done. I drop him off for the day and make a beeline to the local library and/or Panera and just write.
Wow, Kim. I know how frustrating that is. Have fun at Panera...we don't have one, and I wish we did. BTW, I think I hear your phone ringing...DON'T ANSWER IT. :-)
DeleteLOL. Just had dentist call me on my cell! I'm still not sure where they go that number!
DeleteHope you're feeling better soon! I somehow missed this post the other day - thanks for updating the next few months of check-ins and for hosting this month. I finished my revisions (yay) and am doing a final read-through.
ReplyDeleteAwesome, Jennifer! Enjoy that re-read through. I am almost there.
DeleteHey, Mary Ann, let me know if you need a volunteer for hosting after July. I'm game. Hope you're feeling better!! :)
ReplyDeleteAWESOME! We can put you on the list for August :-) Thanks!
DeleteSorry to hear you haven't been well, but hope things are improving now. I was out of town Friday through Tuesday, thus the late check in. And I really haven't any writing-related progress to report. Just wanted to stop in and thank you for hosting in April. Knowing there are fellow writers keeping tabs on our #wipmadness progress every week is helpful, even if I don't always respond to the motivational boot. :)
ReplyDeleteOnward into May! See you at Deb's blog next week.
Thanks for hanging in there with us, Carol. May is going to be a fabulous writing month...I can just tell!
DeleteSee y'all the first Monday in May!
ReplyDeleteI had this window open all week and forgot to comment. Sorry. Hope you're feeling slightly better now.
ReplyDeleteI have been working on more revisions, my synopsis, and my other WIP. Other WIP has to be set aside again while I focus on synopsis and revisions, in that order.
